Process for feeding laundry items (10) to a mangle involves inserting two adjoining corners into two clamps (28) at several feeding stations. The items are spread out in a spreading device (15) and transferred to a feed conveyor. The two corners or clamps (28) of a laundry item (10) are taken over by the corresp. feed station (11) through two nearest clamps or clamp mounts of the spreading device (15) which is equipped with at least three clamps or clamp mounts.
