Cycloidal speed reduction gear with toothed wheel engaging ring of pins - incorporates drive shaft fitted with eccentric bush which carries toothed wheel

A cycloidal speed reduction gear is connected to an electric motor (16) to provide a speed reduction of the order of 100 : 1. The motor drive shaft (1) passes through a hole in the reduction gear housing wall (7). The shaft (1) is fitted with a bush (2) which has an eccentric end portion on which a ball bearing (17) is mounted. The bearing (17) carries a toothed wheel (3) which engages a ring of stationary pins (5) which are fixed to the housing wall (7) and cause the toothed wheel to roll around the ring of pins at a relatively low speed. USE - For mechanisms which rotate at low speeds but are driven from high speed shafts such as the winding drums of the carriages of overhead cranes, mixing machines, crushing machines etc.
