For each sub-band scale factors are determined for transmission of coded and reception of decoded signals in data frames. Each of the latter has a header and digitalised control signals, i.e. a synchronising word, bit rate signal, scanning rate signal, mode signal etc. An optional fault check and/or correction portion is included, with a CRC protection word. There is an audio data portion with components for each transmitted sub-band in the data frame in incorporated an extra fault protection signal, or bit, for the protection of the scale factors in the data frames. USE/ADVANTAGE - For digital audio signal transmission, with increased transmission protection of sub-band coded audio signals.
