A concert grand piano has a hammer (41) which is actuated through a mechanism which is operated by a key (12). When the outer end of the key is depressed the inner end swings upwards and actuates a lever (14). An arm (20) forming part of the lever (14) acts on a linkage (21,25,24) which swings the hammer (41) upwards so that the hammer head (43) strikes the wire (46). The linkage consists of the repeater member (21) the L-shaped lever (24) and the short link which connects the L-shaped lever to the repeater member (21). USE/ADVANTAGE - The mechanism improves the quality of the pianissimo playing of the piano.
