The upper end (12) of the valve (10) is connected to a water supply tube. The water flows into the cylindrical bore (16) through a channel (36) inside the valve casing (14). A piston (38) almost fills the void (16) and below this in the bottom of the void is the head (22,18) of a valve needle (17). Below the head the needle has a short section (24) of constant cross section, from which in a downwards direction the needle tapers (26). The lower part of the casing inner bore diverges (34) to allow the needle to tilt pendulum fashion. USE/ADVANTAGE - The needle is tilted by the chicken and this unseats the needle head allowing water to trickle through the restricted opening.
