The basic shape of the housing is an ovoid having three semi-axes (a, b, g) of different lengths so that a vertical section through an ovoid sound wavefront optimised on the surface of the transducer has unequal semi-axes (aa, bb, gg). The transfer function of the transducer is linearised by the shape of its housing which has no parallel walls so that standing waves cannot be set up. The directionality of the loudspeaker is minimised with a surface-optimised wavefront and rounded boundary surfaces. USE/ADVANTAGE - In e.g. Hi-Fi systems, diffraction of sound waves is diffusely distributed over frequency range and attenuated with min. distance between transducer and edge of housing.
