UV disinfection of fluids e.g. sewage in a flow channel - has quartz tubes with UV radiators in a covering at the channel where it backs up ensuring a water presence round them at all times
The ultra-voilet disinfection of water and other fluids, in a flow channel, has a covering for the UV grid to form an enclosed flow channel with no free water surfaces. The under side of the covering is below the level of built-up water backing up from an overflow barrier so that, with all flow volumes and even when there is no flow, the UV radiation grid is within the water at all times. Pref. the covering for the UV radiation grid is a trough with an open top. The quartz covering tubes and the UV radiators are secured to the covering, in the required pattern, by mountings above the covering to give the quartz tubes and the UV radiators a free projection without additional components. The mountings are tubes or pedestals with guides for the inserted quartz covering tubes which can be a lip seal, oil-seal ring or guide ribs. The mounting can also be lip sealing at the covering for the grid, without tubes or pedestals, with an upper drilling in a flat strap or clip secured to the covering. A number of quartz covering tubes and their UV radiatiors are assembled in a unit by a moving mounting frame or other common mounting, in a row across the channel, to be installed and removed together. They can be assembled in a required configuration, for the fluid to flow round them, each with their own covering, with blind fittings for additional tubes to be inserted as required. USE/ADVANTAGE - The UV disinfection is for flows of sewage and the like, to destroy micro organisms without needing chlorine for bacteria and germ elimination. The system is particularly effective in disinfecting fluid flows, especially open channels.
