The cleaning turbine maintains the clarity of the quartz sheath tube by a mechanical brushing action along the outside of the tube (1). The turbine (10) surrounds the tube and is propelled by a traversing arm (20) which supplies water under pressure to nozzles (16) with jets impinging on the vanes (11) of the rotor. Typically, three brushes (14) bear on the surfaces of the tube with a light pressure and rapidly rotate with the turbine rotor to remove the layer deposited by the flow of sewage. After a cleansing traverse of the turbine the complete equipment can be withdrawn to a parking position outside of the UV radiation area. USE/ADVANTAGE - Simple, compact cleaning equipment which can readily be applied to whole series of tubes in UV radiation channel.
