The steam increases the volume and also the mass flow through the jet nozzle and so increases the reaction force generated by the jet and at the same time reduces fuel consumption. The water required for the process can be carried in the space made available by the reduction in size of the fuel tanks. ADVANTAGE - The reduced temperature of the jet efflux also reduces the pollution caused by the exhaust gases.
