High-resolution pulse radar method using pseudo-statistical modulation - produces time-transformed IF signal from transmission and scanning pulses with slightly different repetition rates
The pulse radar method utilises a transmission pulse assembly (40) incorporating a transmission clock oscillator (11), a pulse shaper (12), a phase modulator (13) and a microwave pulse generator (14). A scanning pulse assembly (20) includes corresp. circuits (17, 18, 19, 21) and the modulators (13, 19) are driven jointly by a pseudo-noise generator (16) fed from both clock generators (11, 17). The microwave transmission pulses are coupled (22) to an antenna (23) and to a preamplifier (24) whose output is mixed (25) with the scanning pulses. The prodn. is amplified (16) and detected (27). The carrier oscillations of the two pulse sequences are phase-modulated by the same pseudo-statistical binary sequence. ADVANTAGE - Ambiguous echo signals can be suppressed and interference with other technical equipment from radiated pulses held at low level.
