Continuous measurement of underfoot reaction to walking patient - balances longitudinal movement of treadmill with measured frictional force and motor-driven force components derived from motor current.
Continuous measurement of underfoot reaction to walking patient - balances longitudinal movement of treadmill with measured frictional force and motor-driven force components derived from motor current.
The appts. comprises an outer endless belt (1) around rollers (4,5) driven by a motor (2), and a synchronised inner belt (15) with a coefft. of friction of about 0.8. The inner belt has a shaped guide (17) for transmission of the lateral horizontal component (Fx1) of force, apart from possible frictional losses, to a measuring plate (21). The vertical component (Fz1) is transmitted completely and the longitudinal component can be detected by balancing of the measured frictional force with the variable motor current. USE/ADVANTAGE - In adjustment or replacement of limb prosthesis, thread force components along and across belt can be measured with great accuracy.
