The diesel engine (1) driving an electric generator (2) exhausts through a silencer (3) into a common exhaust-gas and hot-air pipe (4). Its cooling air (5) is directed into a flue (6) from which it is drawn for mixing (7) with the combustion prods. in an electric heater (8). The current supplied by the generator raises the temp. of the hot mixt. to meet the requirements of the appts. fed from the pipe (4), which is equipped with a temp. sensor for engine control purposes. USE/ADVANTAGE - Esp. for a limestone grinding plant, necessary amt. and temp. of hot gas are available irrespective of actual power requirement.
