The components of a chromatographically analysed sample are collected by (a) establishing a schedule which runs from a specific peak (P1) on the chromatogram and which comprises a sequence of first time bands (E), in which peaks are measured, and a sequence of second time bands (N), in which peaks are ignored, the first and second time bands occurring alternately and successively; (b) introducing the sample into the chromatograph; (c) detecting the specific peak (P1) for initiating the schedule; (d) detecting a chromatogram peak (P3,P4,P6) in each of the first time bands (E), and (e) collecting (S) the sample components which produce these peaks claimed. ADVANTAGE - The process provides acourate sample component collection since it is unaffected by peak position shift or peak height variation.
