Heating of the anvil of a forging press - with thermal effects on ray guideways compensated by heaters on the outer sides on anvil arms

The forging press (1) incorporates an anvil (2), an anvil insert (3) and a ram (4) guided in the anvil. The anvil consists of a base (14) and arms (5) provided on the inner side with a guideway (6) for the ram (4). An anvil area (5) is heatable from outer side by means of a specially provided heating unit (7). The temps. of the guideway and outer side regions of one of the anvil arms are measured, and the heating unit is used to equalise these temps. USE/ADVANTAGE - In forging equipment. It allows (through compensation of thermal effects) work with improved dimensional accuracies to be produced.
