A h.v. discharge lamp circuit has a step-up DC voltage changer connected to a main switch and a two-pole switch on the output side of the converter for reversing polarity and a driver circuit to activate this switch. Alternatively, there by be two DC voltage changers connected back-to-back with a single pole polarity reversing switch and common ground rail. The driver circuit is triggered by the main-switch turning the lamp on. There is a built-up oscillator circuit which generates a very low frequency signal and the driver circuit works synchronously with this. The reversing switches are transistors. ADVANTAGE - Simple low-cost design needing no inverter.
