The crash-caused locking method is for a lid with hinge, located in front of a vehicle window, esp. an engine bonnet, located in front of a windscreen. Special locking devices (7) are located along side edges of the bonnet (1), and neighbouring edges of a body. The devices lock with each other, when the bonnet is moved towards the windscreen during a crash. The locking devices consist of hooks (8) and holders (9) on bonnet, resp. vehicle boy. The hinge has rated breaking points, so that during a crash, it gives way, before the bonnet distorts. The hinge has a flattened bolt, and eyes with openings for the bolt. These are in active connection only, when the bonnet is closed. USE/ADVANTAGE - During a crash, the bonnet of the vehicle contributes to convert kinetic energy into deformation forces.
