The drinks dispensing machine has a platform (26) beneath the dispensing head (100), on which the reception cup (19) is placed, which is pivoted via a stepping motor drive (27) upon operation of the dispensing button (20), to angle the cup (19) beneath the dispensing head (100). When the surface froth or liquid level in the cup (19), reaches a given level, the stepping motor (276) is operated in the opposite sense to restore the cup (19) to the upright position, with dispensing continued until the cup (19) is filled to the required level. A pivot start signal is provided by operation of the dispensing button (20) and is fed to a control stage (30) for the stepping motor drive (27) and the control valve (6) for opening and closing the dispensing line. ADVANTAGE - Reduces quantity of froth generated during dispensing.
