The audio system consists of a radio receiver (2), a tape unit (4) and a disc unit (6) controlled by separate units (16,1,3,5). One of these audio sources is selected by a switch (7) and passed to muting unit (8), the output of which passes via a volume control (9) to an amplifier (10). The sound selector unit (12) has select buttons (15) for the audio source and a mute button (15). When the mute button is pressed, the muting unit (8) switches off the sound, and simultaneously, if in tape playback mode, the tape is rewound to the start of the current music track. If in disc play mode, the disc selection is returned to the start of the music track. When the mute button is released, the sound resumes form the start of the selection. ADVANTAGE - Allows interruption without complication.
