To harden the surface of steel rings for spinning machines, with a high carbon content, a heat surface treatment is applied which would be typical for a steel with a low carbon content. The treatment pref. includes a case hardening process, and a carbonitrating together with quenching in oil for extra-hard steel with a carbon content of about 1 %. USE/ADVANTAGE - The steel rings are for the support of C-shaped travellers moving round the rings. The rings allow high traveller speeds with a long ring life, and are produced rapidly and easily
