Vehicle headlamp with UV illumination of additional field of view - has single bulb with selective bandpass filter in lens to block visible light and pass UV light for fringe areas of view

The single bulb (14) provides visible light and near UV illumination. The visible light is directed to the field of view (illumination) by the reflector and by the lens. The lens has a spatial arrangement of bandpass filters to block visible light from preset angles of illumination while passing the near UV. The near UV illuminates objects outside the normal illumination of the dipped headlamp. Fluorescent road signs and fluorescent tapes on vehicles/clothing are illuminated by the UV. Harmful UV is blocked by a filter layer on the bulb. USE/ADVANTAGE - Improved road safety, illumination of distant objects with dipped headlights.
