The pneumatic spinning appts. has a jet block with jet drillings to generate an eddy air stream at a sliver emerging from a drawing unit. A hollow spindle has a pneumatic rotry drive. Also claimed is a yarn spinning action with a hollow spindle driven at high speed by a compressed air turbine in the spinning assembly. A guide is aligned with its point towards an entry opening of the hollow spindle. The pneumatic rotary drive has a bearing housing, with an air bearing to hold the spindle in the housing, and a compressed air turbine to rotate the spindle. The hollow spindle is rotated by the eddying compressed air stream flowing through the jet drillings. The compressed air turbine has a cylindrical bush (16) with a compressed air feed opening (16b) at a tangent to the inner surface of the bush (16) and an air outlet opening (16b) at a tangent to the inner surface of the bush (16), fitting in the bearing housing (14). A further compressed air feed opening (14a) and air outlet opening (14b) are at the housing (14) for connection with the first air feed (16a) and outlet (16b) openings.
