The machine has a mainframe (1) and a fixed (2) and a moving (8) platen and a plate (3) supporting a piston (7) and cylinder unit (9). Both the cylinder plate (3) and the fixed platen (2) are rigidly connected to the mainframe (1) and no mounted conventionally on pillars. The piston (7) of the piston and cylinder unit (7,9) is pivotable slightly in the cylinder (9). USE/ADVANTAGE - The arrangement is used on an injection moulding machine where the plate supporting the cylinder and the fixed platen are unsupported on pillars, and supported on the machine frame. Radial freedom of piston movement in the cylinder simplifies an arrangement, and ensures machine deformation has no effect on the tool.
