Use of at least one monodisperse cobalt powder consisting of nonagglomerated, substantially spherical individual particles from 0.1 to 20 mu m in size, as binder material in the preparation of a carbide cemented by grinding and then sintering a mixture of powders of at least one hard material based on tungsten carbide and of a binder material. This use provides various advantages: a decrease in the powder grinding time, a decrease in the sintering temperature, and an improvement in the quality of the cemented carbides.
