The invention relates to a system of "straightening pads" which are flexible and elastic and are to be slipped between the big toe and the next toe with a view to compensating, partially or temporarily, for the deformation of the big toe, at the same time attenuating the osseous excrescence resulting from this deformation, and alleviating the pain which is felt. A set of standardised and itemised straightening pads allows the qualified specialist to choose the one which corresponds to the immediate treatment requirements, and those which will be used subsequently. A specially designed sock allows the straightening pad to be held in place day and night.
