Nucleotide sequence, characterized in that it consists of or comprises at least one nucleic sequence corresponding to the genes known as ureE, ureF, ureH, ureI or any part of at least one of these nucleic sequences. The application of these sequences in methods and hits for the detection of H. pylori is also disclosed.
