A latch, mainly for fire safety, the locking bolt 1 of which moves in a vertical plane controlled by a connecting rod, one of the ends of which moves in a horizontal plane and is returned by a spring. The horizontal movement of the connecting rod is brought about by a set of levers which tilts via the action of closing the door. The set of levers may be separated by sending out current acting on the electromagnetic sucker, by breakage of the thermal fuse or by manual action on the lever 17.
