The present invention relates to a patellar disc (1) for a femoral/knee ball prosthesis, composed of a homogeneous or heterogeneous piece made preferably of high-density polyethylene or the like, the articular face (2) of which has a convex anatomical shape corresponding to the concave anatomical shape, in the form of a torus portion, of the femoral trochlea (3), or of the prosthetic femoral trochlear element intended to replace the damaged femoral trochlea, the said patellar disc (1) being characterised in that it has an implanted osseous face (4) which is bulged, frustoconical, convex or the like, intended, on the one hand, homogeneously to distribute the partial pressure exerted by the trochlea (3) or the trochlear element on the said convex articular face (2) of the disc (1), and, on the other hand, to produce a shock-absorption effect close to that of the human cartilage and, furthermore, to limit the internal mechanical tensions which weaken the patella (2) after implantation.
