The present invention relates to a method for converting a spent active mass of accumulator plates which are broken, spent, coming from discharge, into active mass. A heat treatment is carried out at a temperature lying between 500@C and 700@C and lead powder is ground in a mill at a ratio of a quantity of at most 80% by weight with respect to the mass of lead introduced into the mill; the particle size should be less than 60 mu m. The material thus obtained is used for preparing a positive active mass or a negative active mass. IMAGE
