Two microphones (M) are mounted in holes in a baffle (E). The microphones are spaced apart by a distance (D) equal to the spacing between a person's ears. An acoustic absorbing material (S) between the two microphones acts to dephase the on-axis sound, whilst not affecting that arriving from lateral directions. Supplementary microphones (M') are mounted on side baffles (F,G). ADVANTAGE - Couples acoustics to recording room, reproducing sound effects of room for digital recordings. Gives sense of reality to recording.
