When the device 1 starts, total traveling distance preset in a subtracting function is simultaneously subtracted by a pulse coming from a pulse encoder 5 to output a remaining traveling distance Lt. When it passes an address code plate 18, a remaining traveling distance (Lt') from the plate 18 to the destination stopping position is calculated by the remaining traveling distance calculating function programmed in a controller 7. The distance Lt in the subtracting function is replaced by the newly calculated distance Lt'.
