PURPOSE: To provide a Faraday rotation element for the optical measurement of magnetic field or provide a bismuth-substituted rare earth metal magnetic garnet single crystal having extremely high sensitivity and remarkably small temperature dependency of the sensitivity as an industrial element on an industrial scale. ;CONSTITUTION: The magnetic garnet single crystal for the measurement of magnetic field is expressed by the general formula HoXTbYBi3-X-YFe5-ZAZO12 [A is at least one kind of element selected from Ga, Al, Sc and In; 0≤Y/X≤1.0; 1.5≤X+Y≤1.9; 0≤Z≤0.4]. The temperature dependency of the sensitivity in the optical measurement of magnetic field by the light of 790-860nm wavelength is decreased to ±2% or smaller in the temperature range of -20 to +80°C based on the value at 25°C.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO&Japio
