Gene of human epidermal cell growth factor

NEW MATERIAL:A DNA having a synthetic gene for the expression of human epidermal growth factor (hEGF) of formula. USE:hEGF has the activities to suppress the secretion of gastric acid and promote the proliferation of epidermic cell. The former activity enables the use of the substance as a remedy for duodenal ulcer, and the former activity suggests the possibility of clarifying the canceration mechanism. PREPARATION:The objective hEGF consists of a DNA coding a protein other hEGF and starting from the initiation codon ATG and attached to the 5'-terminal of the synthetic gene of hEGF, and a DNA coding a protein other than hEGF and attached to the 3'-terminal of the hEGF-synthesis gene terminated with the termination codon (e.g. TAG) or starting from the initiation codon ATG, and is terminated with a termination codon (e.g. TAG).
