PURPOSE:To improve the finish of a worked surface by finding points discretely up to a cutting boundary point along cutting passages set on curved surfaces and generating NC data for generating a composite curved surface by tracing the respective points. CONSTITUTION:An automatic programming device for NC data for generating the composite curved surface 10 consists of a keyboard for data input, a processor, a curved surface storage memory, an external storage medium such as a magnetic tape, an output device, etc. When the NC data is prepared curved surfaces 11 and 12 which constitute the composite curved surface 10 and data which specify cutting passage patterns 21 and 22 of the curved surfaces are inputted. Then points are found along the cutting passage pattern 21 from the cutting start point P1 of the curved surface 11 to the boundary point R1 between the curved surfaces 11 and 12. Further, points are found similarly on the curved surface 12 along the pattern 22 up to the cutting-directional boundary point Si. Then, those respective points are traced continuously to prepare the NC data for generating the composite curved surface 10.
