PURPOSE:To manufacture an aluminum allay excellent in hardness, tensile strength and wear resistance by preparing a rapidly solidified Al alloy contg. specified ratios of Fe, Si, Cu, Mg, V, Mo and Zr and used in a non-heat treated state. CONSTITUTION:A non-heat treated rapidly solidified aluminum allay having a compsn. constituted of, by weight, 6 to 10% Fe, 1 to 10% Si, 1 to 6% Cu, 0.3 to 3% Mg and total =8% of one or = two kinds among 0.5 to 5% V, 0.5 to 5% Mo and 0.4 to 4% Zr and used in a non-heat treated state is prepd. Furthermore, for manufacturing this die material, the aluminum allay having the above compsn. is melted, and the molten metal is thereafter rapidly solidified; usually, this cooling is executed at about =100 deg.C/sec cooling rate, and to be concrete, the method of atomizing, splat cooling or spray deposition is applied. In this way, the material for a die excellent in hardness, tensile strength and wear resistance can be obtd.
