PURPOSE:To manufacture a low-alloy steel wire having superior drawability and enabling the elimination of heat treatment by subjecting a steel billet having a specified composition consisting of C, Si, Mn and Fe to heating to a proper temp., hot rolling and cooling under specified conditions. CONSTITUTION:A steel billet consisting of, by weight, =0.02% C, 0.50-1.20% Si, 1.00-2.00% Mn and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities or further contg. 0.01-0.07% Al and 0.01-0.25% Ti is heated to 750-900 deg.C, hot rolled and cooled from 900 deg.C to 500 deg.C at 0.5-15 deg.C/sec cooling rate. Thus, a low-alloy steel wire enabling the perfect elimination of heat treatment is obtd. without increasing load on rolling.
