PURPOSE: To provide low alloy steel wire rod for a high strength extra fine wire in which the distance of lamellas in a pearlitic structure is controlled and excellent, (in wire drawability and to provide production thereof. ;CONSTITUTION: Low allay steel wire rod for a high strength extra fine wire constituted of 0.80 to 1.10% C, 0.10 to 1.00% Si, 0.10 to 0.60% Mn and 0.10 to 0.60% Cr and in which the distance of lamellas in a pearlitic structure is controlled to 0.08 to 0.12μm is obtd. Furthermore, this low alloy steel is subjected to hot wire rod rolling and is thereafter cooled at 0.4 to 4.0°C/s. Since the low allay steel wire rod can be subjected to wire drawing as it is without executing first lead patenting, the merit of the cost reduction in the high strength extra fine wire is high.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO&Japio
