RASTER PICTURE PROCESSING METHOD AND DEVICE HAVING PICTURE ELEMENT MAPPING ENABLING PICTURE BORDER DENSITY DISTRIBUTION

PURPOSE: To generate visually comfortable display in the background area like a boundary by selecting one of prescribed number density value to show a boundary area and remapping image density to the remaining density value. CONSTITUTION: Images from various generation sources 2 to 2"' are sent to a computer 4, processed for display and then sent to a printer 5. The printer 5 consists of a rasterized module 6 and a film exposing device 15, and exposes with raster scan a photosensitive film sheet 11. At this time, the rasterized module 6 is a previously selected boundary density level by selecting one of 1st prescribed number image density levels. Digital data which show the 1st prescribed number image density level also are mapped to a 2nd prescribed number image density level that does not include this selected level. An image is shown by using the 2nd number image density level and also a boundary area is shown by using one of the selected 1st number image density levels.
