PURPOSE:To obtain a composite yarn free from knob and uneven twist and suitable for sewing thread by doubling twisted spun yarn and twisting filament yarn while applying tension to the former larger than that to the latter. CONSTITUTION:When a spun yarn 4 and filament yarn 3 are doubled and wound to a bobbin 7 while drawing a spun yarn 4 from a bobbin 6 precedingly twisted and wound and while twisting and drawing a filament yarns 3 and 3 from single or plural bobbins under the rotating (bobbins 5 and 5), the doubling is carried out by applying a tension to the spun yarn 4 larger than that to a filament yarn 3. Therefore, a tension control means 18 is preferably provided.
