PURPOSE: To shorten the distinguishing time of the content of a defect by providing a defect detector at the terminal section of a process for every kind of defects where tone defect is brought about. ;CONSTITUTION: Defect detectors 10 are provided to detect the abnormality of a woven cloth material such as missing of yarn or the like, the abnormality of the appearance and the other kinds of abnormalities respectively after a weaving process, a drying process and an adjusting process. The defect detectors detect different, kinds of defects from each other and adapted to detect defects generated at least at one or more processes immediately before the position where the detectors are provided. The content of the defect detected by the defect detector at a previous process is not subjected to the detection of the defect detector of a succeeding process. When the past time from the weaving start of the cloth is detected, it becomes possible to calculate the length of the woven cloth from the leading end thereof based on the detected time, the transferring speed and the position of the defect detector 10.
