PURPOSE:To readily measure the attachment and repellent activity of Mytilus edulis galloprovincialis under conditions close to the natural state in a laboratory by a specific method using a petri dish having holes for feeding seawater in the wall surface. CONSTITUTION:A test paper, coated with a test sample and having holes formed therein is initially fixed to a petri dish having holes for feeding seawater or its diluted liquid (seawater, etc.) in the wall surface with agar. The petri dish having the test paper fixed thereto is then placed in a water tank having an aerating means and seawater, etc., are then placed in the water tank so as to enable the feed of the seawater from the holes in the wall surface of the petri dish without sinking the whole petri dish in water. Thereby, the movement of Mytilus edulis galloprovincialis placed in the petri dish is observed. Furthermore, seawater at 80-100% concentration is usually used as the seawater, etc. The test on measurement of the attachment and repellent activity of the Mytilus edulis galloprovincialis is preferably carried out in the dark at 15-20 deg.C. After starting the test, the results can generally be judged within 10-24hr.
