NEW MATERIAL:A mono- or polyclonal antibody which recognizes an antigen existing in plankton wherein the plankton is plankton constituting red tides, recognizes only plankton of specific families, genuses, species or stocks and does not recognize plankton of other families, genuses, species or stocks. USE:A reagent for deciding classification of plankton constituting red tides. PREPARATION:For example, sodium chloride injection containing plankton of Chattonella marina NIES-188 strain of the genus Chattonella is emulsified with an equivalent amount of Feund's complete adjuvant, administered to vacuum abdominis of mouse BALB/C, the mouse is immunized against the strain and additionally immunized. Then, the splenocyte is collected, subjected to cell fusion with a myeloma cell to give a hybridoma. Then, the hybridoma is screened, cloned by limiting dilution, the cloned hybridoma is cultivated in cavum abdominis of mouse to give a monoclonal antibody.
