METHOD FOR REMODELING PIPE TO BE EQUIPPED WITH LEAK DETECTION SYSTEM

PURPOSE: To remodel an existing pipe to be equipped with a leak detection system without cutting open or dismantling the pipe. ;CONSTITUTION: An elongated fluid detection element 2 is deranged, along with a tube 8 of absorbing material, between the inner surface of a pipe A and an impermeable tube 10 spaced apart therefrom. The fluid detection element 2 is connected operationally with an external display station 6. The impermeable layer 10 may be such type as being used ordinary for relining a defective pipe in the field. The tube 8 of absorbing material and the fluid detection element 2 preferably fill an annular space between the inner surface of the pipe and the impermeable tube 10.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO
