摘要

PURPOSE: To provide a method and a compact circuit for superconductor coil quench protection without depending on coil exciting power source. ;CONSTITUTION: An iron core reactor 3, which is connected with a disconnector 4 in series at the time of normal conduction, is permitted to be saturated by bias power source 5, and at the time of quenching, the bias power source is turned off so as to shift to a nonsaturated area and voltage is generated at the both edges of the iron core reactor. Thus, the direct current of a main circuit is commutated to a breaker 9 and the disconnector is opened. Then, current flowing in the breaker is changed again to flow into protecting resistance 13 by a commutating circuit 12 and energy of the superconductor coil is consumed by the protecting resistance 13.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO&Japio
