PURPOSE:To provide the laser beam cutting method of the thick plate stainless steel where the base of material to be cut is irradiated and melted with a laser beam, viscosity of molten metal is reduced and the thick plate stainless steel can be penetrated and cut, besides, damage of a cutting nozzle can be prevented and further, the quality of a cut part can be improved. CONSTITUTION:When the laser beam 1 is condensed by a condensing mirror box 2 and then, passed through the cutting nozzle 5 to irradiate and cut the material 7 to be cut of the thick plate stainless steel, the cross section of the cutting nozzle 5 is made into an ellipse in the direction of a cutting line, the condensing mirror box 2 is oscillated in the same direction and an iron-base wire 9 is fed continuously to the base of the material 7 to be cut, by which the thick plate stainless steel is cut while utilizing oxidation combustion reaction of iron.
