PRODUCTION OF RESIN POWDER WITH LOW CONTENT OF RESIDUAL VINYL MONOMER BY STEAM TREATMENT OF VINYL CHLORIDE RESIN SLURRY AND ITS APPARATUS

PURPOSE: To obtain a method for producing resin powder in which the residual vinyl chloride(VC) is removed from an aqueous slurry of vinyl chloride resin (PVC) containing the residual VC as much as possible and the foaming in the aqueous phase can simultaneously be suppressed to eliminate bubbles and an apparatus for producing the resin powder. ;CONSTITUTION: A slurry to be treated is charged onto the topmost plate 1 of a column type treating apparatus 13 having the perforated type plates 1 assembled therein and steam is blown from the lower part of each plate 1 into the slurry. Steam is simultaneously jetted from a jetting nozzle 5 installed above the slurry liquid surface thereon. Furthermore, hot water is jetted from a hot water jetting ring onto the undersurface of the plate just above jetting nozzle and the inner wall surface of the apparatus for washing. Thereby, the sticking of PVC particles in the slurry to the apparatus wall, clogging of a condenser, etc., are eliminated without mixing foreign materials. The VC is nearly completely removed from the discharged PVC without producing a situation in which the VC, etc., penetrate from the column top into the condenser.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO&Japio
