PURPOSE: To obtain a resin excellent in heat resistance, moisture resistance, transparency, low birefringent properties, chemical resistance, electrically insulating properties, mechanical properties, etc., by using a small amount of a hardly available monomer. ;CONSTITUTION: The objective resin is obtained by hydrogenating at least 80% of unsaturated bond of a vinylated cyclic hydrocarbon based copolymer consisting of 50-90wt.% linear adduct type polymerization recurring unit and 50-10wt.% linear adduct type polymerization recurring unit of a cyclopentadiene- based monomer and containing a 1,4-bond type linear adduct type polymerization recurring unit of the cyclopentadiene-based monomer and having 0.1-10dl/g intrinsic viscosity [η] in toluene at 25°C.
