PURPOSE: To isolate and utilize a gene specific to adventitious embryogenesis. ;CONSTITUTION: A gene specific to adventitious embryogenesis is obtained by isolating an RNA from carrot cells of an adventitious embryogenetic stage, establishing a cDNA library based on the RNA and hybridizing cDNA of the library with a probe specific to adventitious embryogenesis, wherein the probe is purified by subtraction method. The obtained gene or its anti-sense gene is transduced into a plant and the gene is differentiated to shift the content of the cell wall structural protein.
