PURPOSE: To enable quick and reliable monitoring of temperature for parts to be processed by providing a laser beam focusing head with a line of pyroelectric sensors that detect the temperature of the parts being processed. ;CONSTITUTION: Sensor means attached to a focusing head 4 release signals 7 indicating the temperature of parts in a region to be processed with a laser beam. The signals 7 are sent to an electronic processor 8 for actuating a controller 9 for releasing a control signal 10, which is for instructing the need for intervention, in maintaining the detected temperature by sensors at the level of constant processing quality and which is for changing the output or the moving speed of a laser beam. A monitoring unit is attached to the focusing head and provided with a line of pyroelectric sensors that are capable of outputting an electrical signal dependent on the thermal radiation emitted along the axial line of the laser beam 5.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO
