MICROSTRIP ANTENNA INTEGRALLY PROVIDED WITH LOW-NOISE AMPLIFIER USED FOR GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM(GPS) RECEIVER

PURPOSE: To provide a microstrip antenna which can improve signals received from a GPS satellite. ;CONSTITUTION: A diagonally-fed electric microstrip RHP antenna 70 is composed of a dielectric substrate 72, a grounding surface formed on one side of the substrate 72, a rectangular radiator 76 attached to the opposite side of the substrate 72, and a duct line 92 which passes through the substrate 72 and connected to the point on the radiator 76 from which a predetermined impedance Zo is provided. The conduit line 92 has such an inductance Lvia that the optimum impedance for the minimum noise factor Γo appears at the opposite-side end of the line 92. The grounding surface relief 84 on the first surface of the substrate 72 is connected to the second end of the line 92 so as to allow an active device 88 to be positioned in the relief. An output matching network 90 in the grounding surface relief is also used for coupling the active device 88 to an external system, such as the global positioning system(GPS) receiver, etc.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1993,JPO
