TAIL SEAL REPLACEMENT DEVICE FOR SHIELD EXCAVATING MACHINE

PURPOSE: To make the replacement of worn tail seal easily and safely. ;CONSTITUTION: In a shield machine in which a tail seal 10 to seal a clearance between a segment 11 and a skin plate 1a assembled along a tunnel inner wall is installed at the rear of the skin plate 1a of a shield main body 1 for excavating the ground, a front tail ring 4 is connected to the rear end of the skin plate 1a of the shield machine main body 1 slidably in longitudinal direction, and a rear tail ring 5 is connected detachably to the rear end of the front tail ring 4. A tail seal 10 is provided on the inner periphery of the rear tail ring 5 and, if the tail seal 10 becomes worn, a new tail seal 10a is installed on the inner periphery of the front tail ring 4 and the rear tail ring 5 is disconnected.
